Glitch

Artwork done at RMIT in collaboration with the RMIT Music Department, I used 2D and 3D animation to bring to life Jamie Bennett's 30 second audio sample. The first 8 seconds and the glitch wipe was done in after effects with additional VFX added to the first 3D environment.

I wanted to create an illustrative feel across the 2D animations and 3D environments, while playing with the glitching sounds from the music.

Besides the music used, this was an independent project.

The first 3D environment's material was primarily shading nodes with custom colour mapping, along with grease pencil. The growing grass was done using geonodes.

The clouds for the second 3D environment was done using shading nodes along with an array modifier!

I wanted to give a futuristic feel to this environment without the use of neon lights, so I played more with abstract modelling and added outlines to glass materials to bring it back to the illustrative motif of the project.
