Book Day (VFX)

Instructed to create a campaign video, I used this final project to explore visual effects.

I scripted, shot, and edited the footage into the linecut, which was adjusted after integrating the visual effects and music.

For background elements I designed them in Blender and Adobe Illustrator, animated in Blender, and composited in After Effects. Rotoscoping footage, masks, camera tracking, colouring, and particle effects were created in After Effects including Red Giant's AE plugins.

It was a fun first step into visual effects. Only up from here!

This is the initial linecut, which would later be cut down for better pacing.

Initial storyboarding held shots for longer, however, additional cuts were included to improve world-building and retain viewer attention.

The ending was changed to only reveal magic at the end for a fun hint towards the overall message, stories can feel alive. Meanwhile, the dialogue was replaced with sourced microwave ringing to simplify production where possible.
